Character Breakdown
Fawn Patterson- Oh this woman is full of sass and no apologies. Many would say that she is spoiled but I believe she is just privileged. What more can you expect being the "Princess" of a King Pin. Raised with a birds-eye view of the game all she concerned herself with was the privilege afforded her by being associated with the game. All of that changes when she is thrust head first into a life she never intended to live and was protected from.
Lark "Law" Gutierrez- This man serves "Daddy" vibes from his speech to his swag. Even more than that he is a man that is his own sovereignty. He is the "Law" and anyone associated with him knows it's his world and they just live in it. He tries to stay out the way but sometimes you have to get in the way to make people feel you. He is entrusted with a task to assist and protect Fawn through her transition but may have found the very thing that makes his heartbeat.
Story from my perspective
I am bursting at the seams with conversation about this title. I mean literally this book had me putting it down to fan myself and try to calm down, it was just that spicy. Even more than spice the verbiage used had you taking a front row seat to emotions and situations that literally made you feel like you were a participant in the story line. Like literally, im in this room reading imagining busting my guns with the team. It is definitely an experience.
I won't lie, Fawn from the rip is just about as “mean girl” as they come but her heart is so big. Being raised in a house full of men sometimes does that to you. She was taught early on how to never show weakness as well as the rule that an enemy could once have been your friend. Tragedy strikes and she must now become the face of a life she never wanted to live. We all know how they view women in the game. That is why she was given a gift in Law Gutierrez to make sure that people understood that she is not sweet for it and if you wanna play in her face then you will have to see him and nobody wants smoke with Law.
Law is unlike any other man in the game. He doesn't have a friendly bone in his body. He has family and then he has workers. No lines will be crossed because everybody knows to stay in their lane. Known as an astute business man he takes no shorts and if you cross him he crosses you out. He has history with the Patterson family than runs roots deep. That is why he takes his job as protector very seriously. But man the, first time Fawn stood in his presence he knew that she was his one. Just like any conquest he shall show and prove by any means necessary.
This book gave a different view of love in the face of life. Two people who lived the same life but experienced it on a different scale. The chemistry and their unique approach to love took my heart by storm. All im a say is...if you read this make sure that your significant other is near.
