Any and Everything For Love By: Monica Walters

Straight into the book you realize this is a Romance with a twist. The twist being , addressing hard life issues that plague our community. Over tears and an open heart and mind, I became absorbed in a world that was bound to teach me lessons. Lessons needed to heal even my own soul.

Character Breakdown 

Kace- This young man is powerful. Raised in a morally righteous family, Kace shows the exemplary aptitude it takes to navigate life. Not only a college man but a Frat, Kace knows what it takes to be excellent. If only he could get the young woman he had his sights set on forever. He got the perfect Segway to an introduction and once he makes himself known he is smitten from the start. That is until he realizes that he will have to put his love into action. 

Keonshay- Beauty and brains go hand-in-hand to compose the foundation of this beautiful woman. She lives life simply and with more responsibility than the average twenty-one year old. It is her responsibilities that have her focused on her education in order to provide them with a better life. She does not party or enjoy the life of the young and free. In her heart she wants to live so, imagine her surprise when her crush steps into her already chaotic world. How can she expect him to see her past the embarrassment that is her environment?

Story from my perspective 

Automatically I knew that this story was going to have me deep inside my feelings. You step into a world that is all to familiar in the black community. The world where the oldest sibling is virtually the mother/father to the younger children. The pressure that surrounds that type of circumstance, is all over Keonshay’s shoulders.

You admire Keonshay’s strength and connect to the fortitude it takes her to be selfless. When you are the guide to six younger siblings, you tend to be selfless by default. You watch her jiggle school and raising these babies with no assistance from her parental unit. No matter what she understands that her love for them will have her risking even herself just to ensure they can live outside of their reality. Her desire to have a social life is there but it’s a feeling easily ignored because she has to take care of the little one’s. That is until her crush steps on the scene and she is laid bare.

Kace had his eyes on Keonshay for more than a year. This beauty who came to school focused and serious about her education. All things he admires in the opposite sex. He never thought he could get close to her until he jumps out on the limb and shoots his shot. From the beginning he can feel how guarded her heart was. It did nothing to prevent him from trying to tear her walls down. When he gets a glimpse into her life it does not make him run it makes him want to be the strength she can depend on.

The journey of this beautiful couple was rife with, stepping stones that would have halted any other love story in development. I valued the perseverance they showed in pressing forward even when life was at it's ugliest. Even more than that was the message in the story concerning generational curses. How your past, if left unhealed, will be reborn into your progeny. Had me thinking about how those before us don't understand healing because they have never been healed. This story really touched my heart in so many ways and had me contemplating my life as a whole and the legacy I intend to leave my own children. I hope it can invoke the same feelings in you. When I opened this book and read the forwarding passage I assumed it would be a paranormal. As my body began to heat up as I realized this would be an Urban Romance with and Erotic twist. I was not prepared for that to top even that expectation.


Character Breakdown

Ahlayna- She is in college focused on becoming more than the shadow she has always lived in. Ahlayna appears to be innocent but like all women she holds an air of mystery and hidden desires. With a best friend like Tati, Ahlayna finds herself stepping out of her bubble and right into the arms of the one that every naughty dream has been made of. If only she didn't have secrets of her own that could possibly snatch every dream away.

Tyrell "Wolf"- This visionary with the most responsibilities is mysterious as well as direct. Wolf as the streets know him is a viscous and unforgiving foe. But to those closest to him he is just Ty. Ty is a man that has stepped into shoes that were to big to fill. With a young sister to raise and guide into womanhood, he takes on his responsibilities with the dedication and direction needed to ensure that he completes his father's legacy.

Tati- Free spirit to the tenth power. She has lived in the shade that is the Wolf legacy since birth. All she wants to do is be herself. Tati lives her life on the edge and there is no stopping her. Until she decides to risk it all for love, a feeling she believes is worth everything including waking the "Wolf".


Shotty- He is a thinker as well as Loyal. What more can you expect when you are best friends with the "Wolf". He is dutiful and takes his roles in life very seriously. One day he recognizes the love of his heart and can do nothing to deny her. The only problem is that love may just cost him his life and friendship.

Story from my perspective-

All I could think about was the fever that I was experiencing just reading about one of the main characters thoughts and reading selections. It helped me navigate the mystery surrounding Ahlayna. Who when we first are introduced to her comes off a little virginal. It is always the quiet ones they say. She always has her head in a book and shows no interest in the things that tickles a young persons fancy. He refusal to live on the edge is why we have friends like Tati.

Tati tries to get Ahlayna to do more. Although her best friend gives in a little she still pushes the boundaries. After living life with only her brother as entertainment. Tati forms a bond and a sisterhood with Ahlayna that is born of commonality and secrecy. Especially since the secret she is holding is one that could make her brother turn into the savage he only reserves for the streets.

Tyrell's only goal in life is to ensure that his parents legacy was not in vain. After losing them, He had to jump head first into a world that had once become secondary to his education. After such a profound lost, Tyrell had to become the "Wolf" and lead his father's team and ensure that his little sister made something of herself. Which seems increasingly hard to do because she is rebellious. That is why he has the help of his closes friends.

Shotty is so smooth and funny. I appreciate his mind and his ability to weigh his options. Especially since he fell in love with his best friends sister which completely goes against the code. Does he preserve his life by keeping his feelings hidden or lose the love of his life by refusing to stand up for love.

So many different elements and decisions. As I was reading I kept trying to figure out which way the stories were going to intersect. Nothing you could dream would suffice how this author weaved this story and brought the best possible outcomes to this story. Caught Up Loving A Savage By: Sevyn Scott

The elements in this Urban Fiction read are both traditional and non traditional. It surrounds it self with drugs and violence but it is not the only element. No you step into the life of a stone cold hit man who does what he can to secure the bag. What makes it even more complete is the fact that in a world where he can’t afford feelings love finds its way to creeping in. Makes for a very action packed  and fast paced read that leaves your mind gone.

Character Breakdown

Shine- His demeanor is direct and unforgiving. This man has not had it easy but in the face of adversity he found a way to pull himself up by his bootstraps. It was not the path he choose but the path chose him. Like any great opportunist he grabbed at the chance of not having to live in poverty again. He been with his ride or die from the beginning and all he wanted to do was give her a life that was outside of the struggle. That is until he makes a decision that leaves him with an enemy under his roof and no way out.

Lyrika- This woman is born from heartbreak. Living a life with the rose colored glassed, all Lyrika wants to do is see her name in lights and live happily ever after with her soulmate. That is until that dream is shattered and she is left traversing the world without a purpose and trying to discover who she is outside of the love of someone else's life. One night out with her girls leads her to a chance meeting that showed her she had been living life with her eyes wide shut.


Story from my perspective

The book starts of almost like a recap. It takes you through many stages quickly. This Author offers a unique approach to giving you a backstory before you get to the nitty gritty. One point I absolutely valued because it is extremely uncommon for first books. With the excitement of this new way to write I fell deep into this story and could not put it down.

My first look at Shine and off the back all I could think was that he is woke, conscious and aware. I loved his philosophy on life and living it. The thing that made me absolutely fall in love is his assertiveness and unwavering principles. He is loyal to those who holds dear but does not use that as a crutch if it is not repaid in kind. Shine makes no excuses for his choices and that can be off-putting for some but for me it was everything. Mystery and Secrecy are all tools he needs to be effective in his trade. It is also the thing that almost cost him everything. In his line of duty he cant afford distractions but when your soul moves you are inclined to follow.

Lyrika is on her way to an opportunity of a lifetime. The same opportunity that cost her the love of her life. With no compromise nor comfort-ability Lyrika must find a way to drag herself out of the funk called heartbreak. That's what good girlfriends are for. After  a stern pep-talk her girls convince her to go out into the world and give life a try. Still apprehensive, she follows their advice and what she comes to learn leaves her speechless. She has two choices waste away in loneliness or blindly follow a stranger into an unknown adventure.

What this couple represents is a modern day Bonnie and Clyde story. I enjoyed the twists and turns of the misadventure composed in this story.
